You don’t need a reason to dress up as a superhero! Using felt to make your own mask keeps the project cheap and the result very comfortable and very super! For this blog, I kept the mask simple, but your child can decorate their own unique mask by adding embellishments.
felt, scissors, soft elastic band, pin, either a sewing machine OR a needle and thread OR glue
1.Download and copy this template from Ambrosiagirl.com. There are two masks to choose from or you can draw freehand your own style.
2. Cut out mask and tape outline onto felt. Then carefully cut out 2 masks from the felt.
3. Measure the necessary length needed for the elastic at the back on your child’s head between each side of the mask and add 4 cm.
4. Place the end of one side of the elastic on the mask about 2cm. inside from the side. Lay the second mask on top and pin to temporarily secure the elastic. Repeat on the other side. At this point you can hand stitch, machine sew or glue together. Ideally go around the entire outline of the mask and inside the eye cutouts at well.
5. Once you have the mask ready, your child can add any additional stars, letters or emblems that they like to be their own superhero! You can use the leftover scraps of felt to cut out shapes or find some pre-cut felt shapes at craft or 100 yen shops.
