This was my all time favorite craft as a little girl, endlessly fascinated as I unfolded each snowflake to find a different design. By the look of our house, decorated all over in snowflakes, it is turning out to be popular with my kids. It also helps keep cabin-fever at bay!
origami paper, child safe scissors
1)Fold paper in half, making a triangle.
2)Fold paper in half again, making a smaller triangle.
3)Fold the top point of triangle 2/3 of the way down.
4)Turn paper over, fold extending point over 1/3 of the way, aligning with the fold on the other side, creating an accordion fold.
5)Trim top of overlapping paper.
6)Cut into the final triangle all sorts of shapes, in a variety of sizes and locations. Just be careful not to cut the entire side of either crease.
7) Unfold to see the snowflake!
Here are some examples of how the cuts created the designs.
