Winter is here but where is the snow? Here are some places you can go!
Many snowy destinations in Japan offer a variety of activities from skiing and onsens to kids play spaces. Larger facilities often offer baby sitting and kid’s programs for a fee. Small facilities can be less expensive and less crowded. Finding a good place to go cross country skiing, snowshoeing or ice skating may take a little extra work but they are realistic options.

JR often has amazing deals called JR Ski Ski with train, gear rental and ski pass all included. Some are day trips, others are overnight. ANA and JAL offer similar deals including airfare.
If you are planning to play in the snow in the Kanto area and carry a foreign passport the Kanto Area Pass for JR trains is also worth looking into for some destinations.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” -Mark Twain
